The film was a sequel to the 2001 comedy-heist film Ocean’s Eleven. With 55% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film’s ending was heavily criticised for being vague and sloppy. Also, the slow start of the film didn’t go down very well by the viewers.

Both the films released on the same year, the former released on May 15, 2003, and the later six months later on November 5, 2003. The films were sequel to the 1999 movie The Matrix. The former film’s use of excess and unnecessary violence was criticised, while the later was deemed as philosophically ambiguous. Both the films were directed the Wachowskis brothers and stars Keanu Reeves, Laruence Fishburne, Carrie Anne-Moss, Hugo Weaving and Jada Pinkett Smith.

The 2005 movie XXX 2: The Next Level breaks into top 3 into this list of great movies with bad sequels. Sequel to the 2001 movie XXX, the movie was directed by Lee Tamarohi and stars Ice Cube, Scott Speedman, Willem Defoe and Peter Strauss. The plot of the movie and the poor performance of the actors was noted by the critics. As a result, the movie was a box office bomb.
2. Son Of The Mask (2005)
Getting into top 2 of our list is the 2005 movie Son Of The Mask. The film was directed by Lawrence Guterman and had Jamie Kennedy, Alan Cumming, Traylor Howard, Steven Wright, Kal Penn and Bob Hoskins in lead roles. The film which was the sequel to 1994 movie The Mask, did not live up to the craziness of the original movie, whch made The Mask such a popular film. It holds 6% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It was nominated for eight Golden Raspberry awards, winning one for Worst Remake or Sequel.
